My Waiting Room (2026)
25 June - 1 July. Brunel Shed, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Evolving from the themes of memory, space, place and vanitas, my work is inspired by the insidious effects of my late mother-in-law’s (Mam) Dementia, having experienced the devastating impact on her and the memories shared with those she loved and lost before her death. This exposure forms a major element of my current practice and interlinks the development of ideas for my final major project.
My Waiting Room (2026) is an interdisciplinary installation. If I had a wish to grant, I would have created a space just for Mam to sit on her garden sun lounger for a while, where her memories were clear enough to hold and receive joy for the life she lived. Affected by this notion, I felt compelled to create an autobiographical, archival space that allowed me to do for myself what I couldn’t do for Mam: to create a place, transient between life and death, that would allow reflections on precious memories of my life to be recalled and tangibly recorded for one last time.
My Waiting Room (2026) installation endeavours to capture and preserve the zeitgeist of my life through works of art that serve as legacy pieces, leaving my loved ones with a lasting expression of love, thanks, and beautiful memories of the precious moments we shared.
I dedicate this work to my Husband, children, grandchildren, and those who follow. With all my love, always.
