Living Installation including mixed media.

Qu’est-ce que c’est? (2024) evolved from desire to push my own personal characteristics beyond the familiar and challenge myself. I was intrigued by the power and struggle for survival over hard and/or man-made materials and those of biological organic matter. This installation was inspired by images from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster some 40 years ago, and the recent discovery of a lost Amazonian city believed to have been hidden for more than 2500 years.
Qu’est-ce que c’est? was a living installation that invited more questions than it answers by drawing observers in to participate and immerse themselves in an environment that offers a representation of a home being devoured by nature’s reclaiming of territory. Set within a physical boundary of a devastated dystopian forest, many aspects of that abandoned home are visible. But what happened?
